The Value Of Human Lives

Interesting point on tonight's Campbell Live http://campbelllive.tv3.co.nz/ about how much the New Zealand Government is sending as aid to Kashmir compared to how much was donated to Hurricane Rita. They sent 2million dollars for Katrina (New Zealand Red Cross will pass Government funding of $2 million, along with donations from the public which have now reached $28,000, on to the American Red Cross Hurricane 2005 Appeal. ) but only 750,000 (* New Zealand: Aid Minister Marian Hobbs said New Zealand would contribute $750,000 to international relief efforts through NZAID. That was likely to be spent on essential supplies such as tents and medicines. ) to the Earthquake victims... that works out at $25 per victim as opposed to approx $50,000 per victim in New Orleans..... Mind you, the Government claims that the aid coffers are nearly dry.
